PRESS RELEASE: Kathy Manning Raises $725,000 in Latest Fundraising Quarter to Replace Congressman Ted Budd

Kathy Manning Posts Strongest Fundraising Quarter in District History for Democrats in NC-13

Greensboro, NC — Business and community leader Kathy Manning’s campaign to unseat Congressman Ted Budd (NC-13) reported its largest fundraising quarter yet, raising $725,000 from April 1 through June 30 of this year. This figure represents the most money ever raised by a Democrat running in North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District during a single quarter and brings Kathy’s total raised to over $1.8 million in her campaign to replace Congressman Ted Budd. Kathy’s campaign also reports having more than $1.3 million cash on hand.

“I’m proud to have earned the support of thousands of North Carolinians who are proving that it’s possible to take on a Washington bought and sold politician like Congressman Budd without accepting a dime of special interest corporate PAC money. As I travel the district, I hear it over and over again: people are tired of politicians like Congressman Ted Budd who put special interests ahead of the people they represent in Washington,” said Kathy Manning. “I’ve spent my career bringing people together across our community to get things done, and that’s the kind of leadership our community is looking for in Congress. They’re ready for a solutions-oriented representative who will put people before politics and get things done for hard working North Carolina families.”

The momentum and strength behind Kathy’s campaign, by the numbers:

  • Record Breaking Enthusiasm: Kathy raised over $725,000 in the most recent fundraising quarter, bringing her total raised to over $1,860,000 since announcing her candidacy in December 2017. This is the most raised by any Democrat in a single quarter throughout this district’s history.
  • Broad Base of Support: Kathy has received grassroots support from all five counties in the district: Davie, Davidson, Iredell, Rowan, and Guilford County.
  • People-Powered: Kathy pledged to not take a single dime of corporate PAC money, which means her campaign is powered by people, not special interests. Kathy is proud to have the support of over 30,000 individual contributors with an average contribution of $21.59.
  • Grassroots Campaign Across NC-13: Kathy has continued her listening tour across North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District, attending or hosting over 200 events, signing up over 500 volunteers, and traveling over 6,000 miles across the district over the last six months. Kathy looks forward to continuing to share her vision for North Carolina and what’s at stake in this election over the next four months.
